We were called in by a domestic customer in Avonmouth to completely redo an extension after a disastrous attempt by previous contractors. The original work had been poorly executed, leaving the client with numerous structural and aesthetic issues that required immediate attention.
Project Challenges
The issues we were tasked with fixing included:
- Bowing Roof: The roof structure was improperly supported and had begun to bow, posing serious safety concerns.
- Incorrect Kitchen Layout: The previously installed kitchen was not only incorrectly laid out but also unusable and had to be removed entirely.
- Sagging Floor: The floor had started to drop due to inadequate foundation work, where the previous builders had tried to compensate by packing loose sand under it—a completely improper and ineffective solution.
Our Solution
To resolve these issues, we had to start from scratch:
- Rebuilding the Roof: We reinforced the roof structure, correcting the bowing and ensuring it was properly supported for long-term durability.
- New Kitchen Installation: The entire kitchen layout was redesigned and rebuilt to the customer’s specifications, ensuring it was both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
- Floor Levelling: We removed the loose sand and corrected the foundation and flooring, installing a sturdy, level base to prevent future issues and ensure the stability of the extension.
